Sicilia: l’Anas apre un nuovo tratto della statale 640
L’Anas ha aperto al traffico un tratto ammodernato a 4 corsie della nuova strada statale 640 “di Porto Empedocle”, a Favara, in provincia di Agrigento. Alla cerimonia, sono intervenuti l’Assessore Regionale alle Infrastrutture e alla Mobilità Carmelo Pietro Russo, il Presidente della Provincia di Agrigento Eugenio D’Orsi, il Sindaco del Comune di Favara Rosario Manganella e il Condirettore Generale Tecnico dell’Anas Gavino Coratza.
La strada statale 640 ha inizio da Porto Empedocle, attraversa la Valle dei Templi a sud della Città di Agrigento e, dopo aver interessato i territori di numerosi comuni delle province di Agrigento e Caltanissetta, termina sull’Autostrada A19 Palermo-Catania, fra Caltanissetta ed Enna.
“Il nuovo tratto aperto oggi –- ha affermato l’Amministratore unico dell’Anas Pietro Ciucci in una sua lettera inviata ai presenti– – rientra nel grande progetto di ammodernamento della strada statale 640 “di Porto Empedocle”, che prevede il raddoppio dell’attuale piattaforma stradale per complessivi 34,6 km (dal km 9,800 al km 44,400), compresa la realizzazione di alcuni tratti in variante”.
“L’itinerario della strada statale 640 – ha proseguito Pietro Ciucci – rappresenta non soltanto il collegamento diretto tra i capoluoghi di provincia di Agrigento e di Caltanissetta, ma anche una dorsale strategica della viabilità regionale. La realizzazione della doppia carreggiata costituisce un importante intervento di riassetto del sistema viario, finalizzato non solo all’innalzamento della sicurezza degli utenti, ma anche al sostegno dello sviluppo economico e territoriale della Sicilia (in una zona ad altissima vocazione turistica), attraverso un sistema stradale che consentirà minori tempi di percorrenza, trasporto più celere delle merci e maggior confort di guida”.
“Nel suo complesso – ha dichiarato il Condirettore dell’Anas Gavino Coratza – l’intera opera prevede la realizzazione di 26 viadotti, di 2 gallerie e di 8 svincoli. Inoltre, il progetto prevede anche la realizzazione di una viabilità complementare per complessivi 47 km circa di estensione, tutti in corso di realizzazione, per un investivemento complessivo di 500 milioni di euro”.
“Il raddoppio della carreggiata – ha affermato Gavino Coratza – consentirà innanzitutto di migliorare l’andamento plano-altimetrico, ma soprattutto di eliminare sia tutti gli attraversamenti a raso, che nei mesi primaverili ed estivi ad alto tasso di traffico costituiscono elementi di grande pericolo, sia gli accessi diretti alle proprietà private che costituiscono ulteriore pericolo alla circolazione”.
“L’apertura oggi al traffico del tratto stradale compreso tra il km 13,200 e il km 16,200 – ha concluso il Condirettore Coratza -, permetterà di decongestionare la viabilità locale, attualmente soggetta, per i lavori in corso sulla SS640, alla deviazione del traffico lungo un percorso alternativo, evitando così l’attraversamento dei centri urbani dei Comuni di Favara e Racalmuto in provincia di Agrigento”.
Il tratto aperto al traffico ha richiesto un investimento di 50 milioni di euro. Tra le principali opere realizzate 2 viadotti (San Benedetto 1 e San Benedetto 2) e lo svincolo di Caldare.
