Iata: nel 2021 volano i ricavi del cargo aereo
Ottimi risultati per il cargo aereo nel 2021. La Iata, l’associazione internazionale del trasporto merci, ha infatti reso noto che i ricavi sono stati pari a 204 miliardi di dollari, più del doppio rispetto al 2019.
“Il Covid-19 ha messo alla prova la resilienza del business del trasporto aereo di merci – ha sottolineato la Iata -. Nonostante le condizioni difficili, il cargo aereo ha consegnato forniture mediche e vaccini critici in tutto il mondo e ha mantenuto aperte le catene di approvvigionamento internazionali. Per molte compagnie aeree, poichè il numero di passeggeri è crollato, il cargo aereo è stato una fonte di entrate cruciale”.
Secondo Brendan Sullivan, Global Head of Cargo della Iata, la sfida è ora quella di mantenere lo slancio raggiunto nella digitalizzazione e altri guadagni di efficienza incentrati sul cliente. “Ci sono buone ragioni per essere ottimisti. Il trasporto aereo cargo sta mantenendo la sua forza anche se cresce l’incertezza economica e geopolitica. Il World cargo symposium di quest’anno, che si terrà a Londra dal 27 al 29 settembre – ha detto Sullivan – si concentrerà su come l’industria può capitalizzare questa resilienza per costruire un futuro ancora più promettente e sostenibile per il trasporto aereo di merci globale”.
