Iata: in calo anche ad aprile l’air cargo mondiale
Ancora in calo ad aprile la domanda di trasporto cargo mondiale a causa degli effetti di Omicron in Asia e della guerra tra Russia e Ucraina che continuano a creare un contesto operativo difficile. Secondo i dati della Iata, l’associazione internazionale del trasporto aereo, la domanda, misurata in CTK (Cargo tonne-kilometers), è diminuita dell’11,2% rispetto ad aprile 2021 (-10,6% per le operazioni internazionali) mentre rispetto ad aprile 2019 la diminuzione è dell’1%.
La capacità è stata del 2% inferiore al 2021, soprattutto a seguito della guerra: diverse compagnie aeree con sede in Russia e in Ucraina sono infatti player fondamentali del trasporto cargo. Inoltre, la politica zero Covid in Cina ha portato a problemi di capacità a causa della cancellazione dei voli per la carenza di manodopera.
“La domanda di cargo aereo è diminuita dell’11,2% ad aprile e la capacità si è contratta del 2% rispetto ad aprile 2021 – ha sottolineato Willie Walsh, direttore generale della Iata -. La combinazione della guerra in Ucraina e del blocco Covid-19 in Cina ha fatto aumentare i costi energetici, intensificato le interruzioni della supply chain e alimentato l’inflazione. L’ambiente operativo è impegnativo per tutti i business, compreso l’air cargo. Con l’allentamento delle restrizioni di blocco da parte della Cina, c’è motivo di un certo ottimismo e lo squilibrio tra domanda e offerta mantiene alti i rendimenti”.
Nel dettaglio, le compagnie aeree dell’Asia Pacifico hanno registrato una diminuzione del 15,8% rispetto allo stesso mese dell’anno precedente, mentre per i vettori europei il calo è stato del 14,4%. In perdita anche i vettori del Medio Oriente (-11,9%) mentre per quelli di Nord America e Africa il calo è stato più contenuto (rispettivamente del -6,6% e del 6,3%).
In controtendenza invece l’America Latina che ha riportato un incremento del 40,9% rispetto ad aprile 2021.
