Camion elettrici nelle miniere: accordo tra Volvo e Boliden
A partire da quest’anno il gruppo minerario svedese Boliden utilizzerà camion elettrici a batteria a marchio Volvo per il trasporto sotterraneo pesante. Una innovazione che vede gli svedesi tra i primi al mondo. L’accordo prevede inizialmente l’utilizzo di due camion elettrici Volvo nella miniera di Kankberg, nella Svezia settentrionale. II primo camion a servire la miniera sarà un Volvo FH Electric, utilizzato per trasportare ancoraggi per il consolidamento roccioso e altre attrezzature. Dopo un periodo di sperimentazione che servirà a comprendere eventuali problematiche, il secondo Volvo Fh Electric entrerà in servizio per il trasporto sotterraneo di roccia e minerali.
Obiettivo riduzione emissioni di CO2 del 40%
Utilizzare il nuovo tipo di veicoli offre grandi vantaggi: assenza di emissioni di gas di scarico, un luogo di lavoro più sicuro e condizioni di lavoro più silenziose. I gas di scarico dei veicoli diesel sono responsabili della maggior parte delle emissioni di anidride carbonica delle miniere. Per questo Boliden si è impegnata a raggiungere l’obiettivo della riduzione di emissioni di CO2 del 40% entro il 2030. Il passaggio ai veicoli elettrici è un cambio di marcia sostanziale in questa direzione. Già in una sola miniera passare completamente ai camion elettrici consentirebbe di ridurre le emissioni del 25%.
La sperimentazione
Se per Volvo si tratterà di mettere alla prova i propri veicoli in condizioni estremamente difficili, come carichi pesanti, pendii notevoli e forte umidità che aumenta il logorio dei motori, e dunque avere risposte su come vengono influenzate la catena cinematica e le batterie, per Boliden utilizzare la trazione elettrica sarà un modo ulteriore di risparmiare energia giacché i camion durante la discesa recupereranno corrente dalla frenata del motore.
