Oman Air inaugura il Milano-Muscat
Oman Air, compagnia di bandiera del sultanato dell’Oman, ha inaugurato la nuova rotta Milano-Muscat. Il primo volo, operato con un Airbus A330, è arrivato nel tardo pomeriggio di ieri all’aeroporto di Milano Malpensa e avrà quattro frequenze settimanali.
Peter Hill, Chief Executive Officer di Oman Air, ha commentato: “Siamo entusiasti di lanciare questo nuovo collegamento per Milano che diventa la nostra quarantunesima destinazione e la nona del 2010. Questa nuova rotta darà l’opportunità agli italiani di scoprire le bellezze e l’ospitalità del nostro Paese”. Nell’ultimo anno, Oman Air, ha definito nuovi standard per il comfort e il lusso in ogni classe, introducendo un eccellente servizio di intrattenimento a bordo (inclusa tv satellitare), diventando pioniera dell’utilizzo del cellulare in volo e della connessione wi-fi.
Oman Air, vettore fondato nel 1993 con base operativa a Muscat, opera attualmente voli internazionali diretti per destinazioni del Golfo come Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuwait, Al Ain e Ras Al Khaimah. In Medio Oriente vola verso il Cairo in Egitto, Beirut in Libano e Amman in Giordania. Opera anche verso dieci destinazioni in India: Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Delhi, Lucknow, Bangalore, Kozhikode e Jaipur. Collega poi altre importanti destinazioni nel subcontinente indiano quali Chittagong in Bangladesh, Karachi, Islamabad e Lahore in Pakistan e Colombo in Sri Lanka. Serve inoltre le Maldive e, in Asia, Bangkok in Tailandia e Kuala Lampur in Malesia. Tra le destinazioni europee Oman Air opera su Londra, Parigi, Monaco e Francoforte. Da giugno 2010 ha cominciato ad operare anche per Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania e, da settembre, per Damman in Arabia Suadita e per Kathmandu in Nepal.
La flotta di Oman Air è composta da Boeing 737 e Airbus A330. Attualmente possiede 15 B737-700/800, tre A330-200, tre A330-300 e due ATR 42-500. Nel 2011 verrà consegnato un altro A330-300. Recentemente Oman Air ha siglato un contratto con Embraer per l’acquisto di cinque aeromobili Embraer 175 della famiglia E-Jets, con i diritti d’acquisto per altri 5 aeromobili. La prima consegna è programmata per il primo trimestre del 2011. Per il futuro Oman Air ha ordinato sei Boeing 787 Dreamliners, la cui consegna è prevista per il 2014.
